Virtual issues collect together the most important papers on substantive topics from the archives of Diametros. Bioethics is the interdisciplinary field of research where many specialists, including physicians, sociologists, and lawyers have a say. However, philosophers who apply moral theories to solve ethical problems generated by medical technology are doing the most important part of bioethics. The present virtual issue constitutes such a philosophical contribution to bioethics. Our authors cover topics such as brain death and abortion controversies, the role of moral psychology in solving ethical dilemmas, the problem of ethical education for healthcare workers, solidarity, dementia, normalizing surgeries on intersex traits, and the issue of expertise in clinical ethics.
