Abstract

In my article, taking M. Walzer’s Political Action: The Problem of Dirty Hands as a point of departure, I focus on the problem of dirty hands. In politics in particular, a person may face a choice between actions neither of which he can accept morally. He finds himself in a tragic situation, in a “moral blind alley”. For someone who on the one hand wants to fulfill his duties and on the other retain his moral integrity, the problem of dirty hands is of crucial importance. Analyzing different views on the subject I show the conceptual confusion that accompanies the debate and try to demonstrate their strong and weak points.
