Research projects and conferences

  • International Conference on Veterinary and Animal Ethics – the conference aims to stimulate scholarship, research and teaching in animal ethics by bringing together leading scholars from mainstream biomedical ethics, veterinary medicine and senior Government officials.  It will contain a mixture of talk from theoretical philosophy to law and onto the practical application into veterinary practice.

  • Newcastle Animal Ethics and Sustainable Food Policy Conference 2011 – this conference will provide an opportunity to bring together the best scholars working on the intersections between animal ethics, sustainability, and food policy, and to develop further capacity and stimulate community action in this field.

  • Minding Animals Conference, Utrecht 2012 – the second in a series of conferences about scientific, ethical and social issues related to human interactions with and uses of animals. The aim of the conference is to bring together academics from different areas (animal welfare, animal ethics, and animal studies in general) with politicians and a broad variety of interest groups.

  • Minding Animals Conference, Newcastle 2009 – abstracts of the invited speakers.

  • 4th Biennial Australian Animal Studies Group Conference 2011 – the conference will bring together animal theorists and scientists from a broad range of academic disciplines with representatives from nongovernment organisations, government officials from several nations and representatives from industry, to examine the interrelationships between human and nonhuman animals from cultural, historical, geographical, environmental, representational, moral, legal and political perspectives.
