Williama Rowe’a bayesiański argument ze zła przeciwko istnieniu Boga. Próba analizy i oceny.

Abstrakt

Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie bayesiańsiego sformułowania argumentu ze zła na rzecz ateizmu na tle współczesnej debaty nt. Rowe’owskiego pierwotnego, indukcyjnego sformułowaniu tegoż argumentu. Na początku przedstawiam podstawy i kluczowe przesłanki sformułowania bayesiańskiego (twierdzenie Bayesa, pojęcie prawdopodobieństwa epistemicznego etc.) następnie omawiam najważniejsze zarzuty wysuwane pod adresem słabego i mocnego twierdzenia Rowe’a. Podstawowy problem, jaki wiąże się z bayesiańskim sformułowaniem argumentu, to fakt, iż nie spełnia on pokładanych w nim pierwotnie nadziei: nie unika zarzutów ze strony sceptycznego teizmu. Ten ostatni musi zostać obalony, aby argument Rowe’a został ocalony (niezależnie które jego sformułowanie – indukcyjne czy bayesiańskie – weźmiemy pod uwagę). Wydaje się, że debata na temat ewidencjalnego argumentu Rowe’a znalazła się w impasie – coraz więcej analitycznych filozofów religii twierdzi, iż powinniśmy powrócić do logicznego sformułowania problemu zła.

Krzysztof Hubaczek

Krzysztof Hubaczek – absolwent filozofii i socjologii. Obecnie przygotowuje rozprawę doktorską na temat problemu zła w analitycznej filozofii religii (promotor: dr hab., prof. US Ireneusz Ziemiński). Prowadzi zajęcia na Uniwersytecie Szczecińskim. Publikował m.in. w Analizie i Egzystencji, Diametrosie, oraz Rocznikach Filozoficznych.
