Rules of the game

The discussion is always initiated by a brief text prepared by one of the participants (in the form of postulates or issues); this text is sent to all of the remaining participants approximately one week before the beginning of the discussion. The participants formulate their responses and send them to the editors in electronic form no later than 6:00 p.m. of the day before the discussion. The Editors encourage authors to divide texts, especially more lengthy ones, into smaller units, providing a short informative title for each. These subtitles will serve as references enabling readers to orient themselves more easily in the discussion and make possible an active reading (which will not necessarily be linear or one-time).

The received responses (together with the initial text) are placed on the DIAMETROS/Forum page no later than 10:00 a.m. of the first day of the discussion.

From this time on all participants in the dispute can read the responses at any time they wish and send subsequent responses, which will be placed on the Forum page 2-3 times daily. The dispute will last three days; it is then closed and the full text of the discussion is moved from the "Discussions in progress" section to the "Last discussion" section; then, after some time, it is moved to the "Discussion archive". An abridged and edited version of the discussion, containing only parts (or a part) of the responses, will usually appear in the newest issue of DIAMETROS. Disputants whose responses have been substantially amended or abridged will receive the new versions of their responses for authorization and will be asked for their opinions concerning the changes. If they do not reply within one week, the absence of a reply will be treated as an acceptance.
